King's Highway
I lost my grandfathers when I started smoking
something became adult about me
and it just wasn't the same
they started to seem smaller, less important
less crucial
It's reflected in the fact that I was the last one to call Uncle cliff
bubba cliff
i don't think he'd understand
and I lost trip and dace and dean
never knew the others
younger than me and fathers
or older and complete strangers
where does my father fit for them
uncle gary
my name divorced
summed up in spirals left for no one
just like danny's books (dead now)
which are scattered among my own

As a stand alone poem...
if I try and foolishly remove any subjective reading of it...
King's Highway is worthy of consideration for publishing.
Why don't you?
Well, I need to tighten it up some. Why not publish? Never thought about it; probably should, especially if you think so.
